Re: Tavern
No worries. This is a very stressful part of the year when it comes to work. Since everyone is running about wanting to finish their shopping and not wanting to get out of the car to eat while doing so... my drive through lane is a constantly hectic place to be working!

*rises from coma*
Sorry I've been gone so long as well... Things spiralled, badly... I'll get a post up in pre-lotr in the next couple days, but for now, I've had 6 hours sleep in the last 5 days so I'm spending today snoozing. While watching the witcher XD

Re: Tavern
no spoilers i promise! I'll just say that it is htting the right notes, for me at least.
we got there eventually XD I decided it was cursed. finished it at 5am yesterday morning, slept for two hours then sent to the printer before the 9am christmas deadline.
But... it is done, for better or for worse. I think, given more time and actually meeting the ponies it would be better, and there's place I'm not convinced about some angles/proportions... but the client is happy so i am happy XD it was a learning curve, and a little out of my comfort zone so... https://drive.google.com/open?id=1lGO7YHixJ4iVyGnHBS6Z1zKAqZzpahsd

Re: Tavern
I like the horses! The style of the humans and their faces not as much, but if your client is happy you managed the most important part!

Re: Tavern
Thanks.
Yeah...I'm not happy about the faces either. It was kind of hard with the photos I was given, he always had his mouth open in a horrified look... And faces aren't my strong point, especially at such an awkward size as well... Not small enough to get away with being minimalistic and not big enough to actually get my teeth into them... I never did get the hang of drawing people tbh XD I would have liked to spend more time on them really.

Re: Tavern
I feel you. While I enjoy drawing faces drawing them from photos is something I avoid like the plague. Those never turn out well when I try.
Next time you will try with more time and do even better, I'm sure. It already turned out well. Next time will be even better.
What I really do like is that there is a certain style to everything you do. Some never find that and even though they draw or paint well there is nothing characteristically theirs to any of their pieces. I feel like you have that, like I would recognize something you did.

Re: Tavern
hi-res pics I can cope but life is certainly better for people. Less so for fidgety animals I find!
Thanks It's taken a long time to sort of, accept it. I always doubt whether I have a style; art teachers have always pushed me to move into experimenting with xyz and saying that my style isn't defined or whatever and I should be more like xyz artist (which semi defeats the point in my eyes, especially as they always seem to quote the same equine artist, who is great but like, not me at all) so it's nice to hear that someone thinks I have one!
Also, what would Gandalf know Faramir's mother as... finally getting round to writing!

Re: Tavern
I prefer non-existing models.
As far as I can tell "defined" comes with time and experience and while copying or taking inspiration from good artists can help when learning I agree with you. Being like xyz artist is not the same as developing your own style, quite the contrary. Odd advice.
Oh... wait! I need to think of an actual name now, do I? He would be the one person who actually knows what her real name is. I think even Faramir doesn't or, at least, doesn't really use it.

Re: Tavern
Those I had in art school were awesome, but, frankly, crazy. One talked to clay and was convinced that it had feelings ... She was kind and creative and just generally wonderful, but... crazy.
He can call her Barathī. It's primitive elvish for "queen", from before it became "-bereth" as in "Elbereth" "star-queen". Also... it sounds slightly exotic and cute.

Re: Tavern
she sounds amazing XD
Awesome. Not going to promise I can manage that accent though. I have not mastered accents and google docs XD
Edit: copying it worked. Also, it is super adorable

Re: Tavern
As long as you don't beat your clay too much. Remember: feelings. Be good to your clay! There is some truth to it, however. If you aren't careful and treat it too roughly it will burst in the oven.
I don't think I will always remember to use it either. Just wanted to write it correctly once. ;D

Re: Tavern
I used to love working with clay. I was horrific with it though... the modelling anyway. I liked painting it though
We can begin with good intentions!

Same. Despite a true clay lover's instructions. XD
Yes! She doesn't like that name anyway. I think it's her real name. I wonder why she almost never uses it and how Mithrandir came to know it.

it's such a cute name though... XD Also, would she like to get her claws into mithrandir before Oddberry?

Re: Tavern
She is a cute person, sometimes. I don't think she cares, as long as she gets her claws into him at some point.

Re: Tavern
XD XD Oddberry is feeling quite passive and jaded after all the excitement so she might let barathi go first. Also, do we want a separate Gandalf account or no? Especially if we might be sharing him
Re: Tavern
We don't need one for the side rp. We'll just write him like we would any NPC.
