Uruk-hai
Uruk-hai
Other names:
Great Orcs, Uruks
Origin and History:
The Uruk-hai appear to be a new breed of Orc that has been sighted in this, the Third Age. There appear to be two different type of Uruk-hai. Those who come from Mordor, bearing the red eye as their sigil and those coming from the direction of Isengard, bearing the sign of a white hand.
It is rumored, however, that both equally were bread by utilizing foul magic to cross humans with orc. It is assumed that a monstrosity like this can only have happened by force. At the same time there are rumors of Dunlendings boasting to have born children stronger than any other and more beast than Man. Could there be those among them who have agreed to such a thing willingly?
Physical characteristics:
While physically similar to Orc, Uruk-hai are taller and more bulky, stand straighter than their twisted cousins. They are faster, stronger and smarter. They withstand the sunlight better and do not flee from it. So far they have been described as black, fell and red-eyed.
Those who come from Isengard appear to be healthier and smarter than those of Mordor, using more sophisticated and uniform full-body armor and weaponry, including short and curved blades, shields and bows.
Typical behavior:
Like their smaller cousins they are violent and malicious, cruel and blood-thirsty, but they seem to be more self-aware and in control of their baser instincts. Instead of disgust and hatred much pride and even a lust for glory appears to fuel their actions. They take joy in hard won victory and have nothing but scorn for battles won too easily, recognize their own and their enemies’ strengths and qualities and act accordingly, plan their attacks and are not only able to work together more efficiently, but also to control orcs and other fell beasts to follow their lead.
