The pantheon of Middle Earth in hierarchical order can be imagined like the following.

Eru Ilúvatar

The supreme being and creator of all existence, said to exist eternally outside of and beyond the world.

The Ainur:

They were created from Ilúvatar’s thoughts before anything else and are the powers of Arda imagined in spirit form. Being privy and inspired by their “father’s” thoughts they sung the universe (Eä) into existence. Some chose to enter the world that they had so created and taking on the form of elves, men and other shapes of nature acted as guardians and guides, rather than lords and masters. However, most of them are said to have turned their backs on Middle Earth and to have withdrawn to the continent of Aman in the West.

-> Melkor/Morgoth Bauglir, Lord of Darkness
Considered the greatest of all Ainur he is not numbered among the Valar after he defied Ilúvatar’s will, attempted to steal the source of his creative energy and disrupted the music of creation.

-> Valar

The Lords of the Valar
Manwë Súlimo, The King of the Wind and lord of Air and Clouds, considered the greatest among the Valar, said to dwell on top of the highest mountain of the world, Mount Taniquetil

Ulmo, The King of the Sea and lord Water, said to dwell in the deepest waters of the ocean

Aulë, The Smith and lord of Earth and Crafts, creator of the dwarves

Oromë Aldaron, The Huntsman, The Great Rider and lord of the Forests, said to have remained behind when all other Valar had already withdrawn, to hunt the dark creatures in the forests of Middle Earth

Mandos/Námo, The Doomsman and Judge of the Dead, said to dwell in the Halls of Waiting

Lórien/ Irmo, The Master of Dreams and Desires, said to dwell in the fairest gardens on Aman, filled with spirits

Tulkas Astaldo, The Strong and Brave, The Wrestler, The Champion of Valinor

The Queens of the Valar
Varda Elentári/Elbereth Gilthoniel, The Kindler and Queen of the Stars, considered the greatest among the female Valar

Yavanna Kementári, The Giver of Fruits and lady of the Earth, creator of the Two trees, of animals and plants, of Ents

Nienna, The Weeper and lady of Mercy, tutor of Olórin

Estë, The Gentle and lady of Healing and Rest, said to sleep during the day on an island in Lake Lorellin

Nessa, The Dancer, who outruns deer

Couples among them are: Manwë and Varda, Aulë and Yavanna, Oromë and Vána, Mandos and Vairë, Lórien and Estë, Tulkas and Nessa

-> Maiar
Lesser Ainur who followed the Valar into the world to support them. They are said to be numerous, but several are named. Among them are the five Istari: Curumo/Saruman, Aiwendil/Radagast, Olórin/Gandalf, Alatar/Morinehtar and Pallando/Rómestámo.
