Someone has to write the first post ...
Well, as tempting as it was, I did not send Fake Member to make the first introduction-post. Instead I’ll let you know a little about myself.
Starting out with a small roleplay-forum on fanfiction.net that eventually died down due to some rather important writers leaving (among them those with admin-rights, go figure), us remaining Faithful still wanted to continue writing stories together and decided to create our own forum. I went by Rain there, I go by Rain here.
As you can probably tell, I am not a native speaker. I still enjoy writing in English and do hope that it doesn’t get too annoying for everyone else.
With that out of the way, I’ve been writing roleplays for more than ten years now, I think. I’ve seen drama, both in and outside of the rpg, spent nights filled with deep philosophical discussions and light banter in a chat-box, I’ve met real friends and I’ve learned a lot. It has been a past-time that has been with me for a long time and that means a lot to me. Fiction in general does. It’s what I study (I’m a comparatist) and the field I work in (as an editor, sometimes translator and maybe soon-ish author).
For nearly as long as roleplays, Tolkien’s work has been with me. The Silmarillion I love, but The Hobbit somehow never won me over (probably because there is no Oddberry in it ;D).
Faramir has always been my favorite character and character of choice for rpgs. I can relate to him in many small and big ways, even though my own brother is younger (though infinitely taller) than me and my archery skills leave much to be desired, among other things.
The version of him that I have in mind for this rpg is different from the Faramir we know and love. Not only did we want him to have good reasons to travel to Rivendell and something very important to him to discover there, I wanted him to start out not yet the person that we see in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. I want to know if he can get there from somewhere completely off curse, or if he will turn to walk a path that is very different entirely, maybe much darker. In the end, what will happen and how it will turn out will depend on, well, you. Every character he meets and everything that happens in our rpg, everything we write and plot together will decide his future as well.
I’m looking forward to writing with you and can’t wait to read our story.

Re: Someone has to write the first post ...
It would have been fun to have Fake-member introduce themselves.
I'm tagging onto Rain's intro as it makes sense to have us lot all in one place. I was known as Horsey in our small, now faintly twitching FF rp; Like Rain, I can be Horsey here, or Odd, which may be easier to remember for those who didn't know me on FF, I'm not fussed. My first RP experience was LOTRO based and I must admit, none of my small group of friends were particularly skilled at it at the time, so while fun, the RP part was often swiftly abandoned in favour of running a raid or two. I didn't particularly know what to expect when I joined our little FF RP but I've learnt a lot, both about RP and in general, and made a good friend or two. I should hope that my writing has improved since the beginning, at least a little.
I've always loved Tolkien and my favourite character when I was little was always Eowyn because horses and badassery. Now, I don't know if I can decide on a specific person I like the most, (there's just too many) but the hobbits and Rohirrim are my main loves. As a crazy horse girl, I will one day find the time to to do a serious Eowyn cosplay, but for now, I trundle round my small piece of the Shire trying to convince my battle horse that plastic bags are not going to eat him. Here in our RP, I am Eowyn, who is in some ways, the Eowyn we all know and love, and in other ways, maybe slightly less so. The character you may see more, however, is Oddberry, my hobbit OC. A bouncy, bubbly, axe-wielding chaos-bringer who has a far more down to earth name than Oddberry (but that would ruin her fearsome reputation so shhhhhhh). For more about her, head on over to the character sheets.
So welcome, and when you're ready, head on over to the tavern and try not to trip over Oddberry's axe.
